Model for Random Union of Interacting Discs

چکیده
The contribution presents statistical analysis of data given by a digital image of heather growth. The bushes are modeled as a process of interacting discs. Different ways of estimating the parameters of the model are compared.

Likelihood inference for unions of interacting discs
To the best of our knowledge, this is the first paper which discusses likelihood inference for a random set using a germ-grain model, where the individual grains are unobservable, edge effects occur, and other complications appear. We consider the case where the grains form a disc process modelled by a marked point process, where the germs are the centres and the marks are the associated radii ...

متن کاملPower Diagrams and Interaction Processes for Unions of Discs
We study a flexible class of finite disc process models with interaction between the discs. We let U denote the random set given by the union of discs, and use for the disc process an exponential family density with the canonical sufficient statistic only depending on geometric properties of U such as the area, perimeter, Euler-Poincaré characteristic, and number of holes. This includes the qua...
متن کاملRAPPORT Maximum Likelihood Estimation for the Bombing Model
Perhaps the best known example of a random set is the Boolean model. It is the union of `grains' such as discs, squares or triangles which are placed at the points of a Poisson point process. The Poisson points are called the `germs'. We are interested in estimating the intensity, say lambda, of the Poisson process from a sample of a Boolean model of discs (the bombing model). A natural estimat...
